Gawler is recognised as the
state's earliest settled country town. Colonel Light surveyed
the town in 1837, the first settlers arriving around 1839. situated
just a short 40 minute drive north of Adelaide, today it is
a bustling centre of activity whilst retaining its old world
charm.
Many places of interest are within walking distance. A day can
be spent wandering around the many original buildings at Church
Hill State Heritage Area and its 10 historic Hotels, or visiting
the Old Telegraph Museum. There are many cafes and hotels within
easy walking distance.
Only a 20 minute drive away is the world famous wine producing
area of the Barossa Valley where, in addition to wineries,
you can visit antique shops, cafes, restaurants and much more.
Para Villa is a pleasant 300 metre stroll into Gawler's main
shopping area of Murray Street where you will find over 200
specialty shops. The villa is also close to the cinema and
restaurants.
